SITUATION

Three days have passed since Operation Iron Warrant, during which Hellenic Police Tactical Response Units successfully executed the arrest warrant against Colonel Akhanteros, former commanding officer of the 1st Regiment "Phalanx." The Colonel was captured alive and has since been relieved of command and transferred into the custody of Greek judicial authorities pending trial.

Analysis of the seized evidence has dramatically changed the scope of the investigation. Rather than trafficking military equipment abroad for personal profit, investigators now believe Colonel Akhanteros orchestrated the systematic diversion of weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and military funding to establish and equip a loyalist paramilitary force operating independently of the Hellenic Armed Forces.

News of the Colonel's arrest and the allegations against him has spread rapidly across Altis. What began as demonstrations has escalated into widespread riots and armed civil unrest. Loyalists, anti-government groups, and opportunistic criminal organizations have exploited the instability, resulting in violent clashes throughout the island.

The security situation deteriorated significantly overnight when elements of the 16th Mechanized Battalion, deployed to restore order in Western Altis, became engaged in heavy fighting after encountering suspected Akhanteros loyalists. Reports indicate portions of the battalion suffered internal fragmentation as personnel refused lawful orders or defected to the insurgents. Shortly thereafter, all communications with the battalion were lost.

Several hours later, a military logistics convoy attempting to reinforce the battalion was ambushed while travelling east. At least two vehicles were left behind during the withdraw, casualties are confirmed, and several soldiers remain unaccounted for.

With the western military district rapidly falling into disorder, the Regional Military Command has authorized a large-scale operation to restore government control before the insurgency can consolidate its positions.

Enemy Forces

Enemy forces are assessed to consist of the newly identified Akhanteros Loyalist Militia, reinforced by armed deserters from the Hellenic Armed Forces and local extremist supporters.

Enemy capabilities include:

• Military-grade small arms and machine guns.
• Anti-armour weapons captured from military stockpiles.
• Light armoured vehicles seized during recent fighting.
• Roadblocks and improvised defensive positions.
• Entrenched and well prepared terrain.
• Familiarity with local terrain and former military defensive plans.

Enemy morale is believed to be high following recent tactical successes.

Friendly Forces

Regional Military Command (West) has committed elements to the operation, including units relocated from the mainland:

• 1st Raider-Paratrooper Brigade
• Motorized and Home Guard support elements
• Fixed-wing aviation
• Rotary-wing support on standby

Additional government forces continue security operations elsewhere across Altis but are unable to reinforce due to ongoing unrest or local commanders unwillingness.
