Situation

The situation on Altis has deteriorated beyond the point of a conventional security operation.

Following the arrest of Colonel Akhanteros during Operation Door Knock and the subsequent discovery of evidence indicating that he had diverted military weapons, equipment, and government funds to establish a private loyalist militia, the Colonel was remanded into custody pending prosecution.

Last night, in an extraordinary and unexpected development, all charges against Colonel Akhanteros were dismissed by the courts.

Despite the substantial evidence gathered by the Hellenic Police and military investigators, the court proceedings were abruptly terminated and Akhanteros was released from custody.

His whereabouts remained unknown until 0620 hours this morning.

At that time, Colonel Akhanteros appeared before the public during a pre-arranged press conference.

In his address, Akhanteros announced the formation of the Republic of Altis and declared the establishment of the Altis Armed Forces (AAF).

He publicly denounced the Hellenic Government as an "oppressing and tyrannical regime" and declared his intention to liberate Altis from Greek authority.

Akhanteros further claimed that the AAF would protect the various ethnic and political minorities of Altis, stating that military force would be used if necessary to achieve this objective.

The declaration effectively constitutes an open rebellion against the Hellenic Republic.

Military Defection

Immediately following the press conference, the situation within the Hellenic Armed Forces on Altis collapsed.

The Eastern Military District publicly declared its loyalty to Colonel Akhanteros and recognised the newly proclaimed Republic of Altis.

Multiple units formerly belonging to the 1st Regiment "Phalanx", Akhanteros' former command, have also declared their allegiance to him.

The result is a fractured military structure.

Hellenic forces remaining loyal to Athens are currently engaged in combat against:

• Newly formed AAF formations.
• Akhanteros loyalist militia.
• Defected Hellenic military personnel.
• Armed elements of the former 1st Regiment Phalanx.

Heavy fighting has been reported throughout the island.

The exact strength and disposition of the AAF remains unknown.

Martial Law

In response to the declaration of independence and the collapse of military authority, the Greek Government has placed the entire island of Altis under martial law.

The Hellenic Armed Forces have been mobilised and ordered to restore constitutional authority and prevent the territorial fragmentation of the island.

The Western Military District, the North Eastern units aswell as the Altis international Airport remains some of the last major areas of organised resistance under direct Hellenic command.

FRIENDLY FORCES

The Western Military District remains loyal to the Hellenic Government.

Available forces include:

• Hellenic Army motorised infantry.
• Light Armoured elements.
• Military Police.
• 1st Special Operations.
• Medical personnel.
• Limited aviation and fire support.

Reinforcements from mainland Greece are being mobilised, but their ability to reach Kavala depends upon the port remaining operational.

ENEMY FORCES

The enemy is designated as the Altis Armed Forces (AAF).

The AAF is a newly formed military organisation consisting of:

• Defected Hellenic military units.
• Former personnel of the 1st Regiment "Phalanx".
• Akhanteros' private militia.
• Armed loyalist volunteers.
• Seized military equipment.

Enemy forces are therefore expected to possess weapons, vehicles and equipment broadly comparable to Hellenic forces.

Enemy Capabilities

Expect:

• Mechanised infantry.
• Armoured vehicles.
• Mortars and indirect fire.
• Anti-armour weapons.
• Sabotage and reconnaissance elements.

The enemy possesses significant knowledge of Hellenic military procedures, equipment and defensive plans.
