SITUATION - 20/12/1989
Santa has been running a routine test flight of the Sleigh Mk.2 in preparation for the full flight on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately during the test, Santa strayed into Soviet Airspace, resulting in him being targeted by Soviet Air Defence Systems.
He has since landed in Siberia, whether or not he has been captured by Soviet Security Forces is unknown. However, Santa has not been heard from since the crash landing, therefore it has been assumed both himself and the wreckage of the Sleigh have been captured.
As it stands, an international task force has been established to ensure the rescue of Santa Claus and the salvation of Christmas. Further reconnaissance is needed to ensure the location of Santa and his Sleigh.
SITUATION - 21/12/1989
Santa has been located on an island chain towards the very North of Siberia, it is believed that he is being held within a military installation on the island. The authorisation for Initial airborne recon via SR-71. Airborne Photography will dictate any plans for the operation itself.
Meanwhile, the established task force has begun gathering personnel for the initial insertion into the operations area. As such they have gathered in Denmark, waiting on the go ahead for the insertion into the USSR for the rescue mission.
Situation - 23/12/1989
SR-71 recon suggests that Santa is being held within a converted industrial facility in a Western Siberian province known as Lybor. Recon suggests that Soviet military personnel have taken Santa in for questioning relating to his preparatory flight paths, as well as the nature of the Sleigh itself.
Since the identification of Santa's location, the task force has engaged in a covert insertion into the AO, using the remainder of the day to establish a base of operations at a recently commandeered radio tower. Since the initial insertion, the task force has since received support from a set of unmarked helicopters to aid the infantry elements of the operation. Due to the required preparation of the operation, the rescue mission must occur on the morning of Christmas Eve.
MISSION BRIEFING
The currently amassed task force has gathered within a captured Soviet Radar Station in the forested hills North of the Lybor valley. From there they are to mount the operation that will locate and rescue Santa Claus. When Santa has been located and rescued, he is to be evacuated from the Area of Operations via the Huey Allocated to the rescue team.
It is believed that Santa is being held in one of two Industrial Sites along the valley. The task force is to scout out and clear both facilities to determine his precise location, destroy any prototype technology that has fallen into Soviet hands and rescue Santa so that he may start delivering presents in time for Christmas.
Execution
This mission will consist of two stages. The first stage consists of the destruction of various strategic assets, including a Soviet Radio Site, as well as a radar station to the south of the current camp area. It is advised that helicopters avoid operating near the radar sites to ensure acquisition or shootdowns cannot occur. Finally, there may be the opportunity to cut power to the industrial site, a small power station on the east side of the valley may achieve this goal.
Once Soviet Strategic Assets are neutralised, then the second phase can commence. Staying clear of hostile action, the two industrial areas must be investigated and cleared of any technology belonging to Santa, as well as finding Santa himself. Once Santa is located, then he must be extracted at the earliest opportunity.
It should be noted that the location of Santa's reindeer are also unknown, it is possible that they are being held within the Area of Operations. If this is the case, then they must also be located and freed.

Intel Report
Satellite Recon suggests that the town is mostly civilian in nature. With regular patrols through urban locations completed by Armed Police. It may be possible to pass off as Soviet Forces if the correct mannerisms are used against the correct people. Military Police and general military will not be fooled by any such attempts.
The Airbase images suggest that a small Soviet Air Force flight has set up in the AO to deal with airborne threats. It may be wise to eliminate the aircraft on the runway so they cannot respond and pose a threat to the Operation. There is also a known presence of MI-24s present in the area, they may be harder to quickly eliminate prior to take-off. Especially with the Radar Site present.
As well as the airborne element. Soviet infantry battalions have been observed at the airbase to act as a mechanised QRF, as well as a garrison force within the industrial area.
Based on reports from the Flyover. We believe that the two eastern industrial areas are the likely locations in which Santa has been held. These will be the site of interest for his rescue.
Mission Notes - READ CAREFULLY
This mission will be the final operation of the year. As such the intention is for players to wind down and have a somewhat relaxed operation. As is tradition among GAF players (and maybe some others). Alcohol consumption will be tolerated (if not encouraged by some players). HOWEVER, players should still not show up shitfaced or piss about excessively. If a player is excessively drunk, or pissing about in the mission they will be removed.
This mission intends to be some simple end of year fun, please do not ruin it for your fellow players.
