Operation Tidal III - Part 2

Spain this week? / No way, we have an op?! (aka what day of the week is it?)

Operation Tidal III - Part 2
Disclaimer:

Operation Tidal III and its associated campaigns are an ahistorical retelling of the modern world, recognised as part of the Trident-verse. The timeline was initially set several calendar years ahead of real world but prior to the events of Arma 3. The outbreak of conflicts has been based on real information and potential scenarios monitored and prepared for by real nations. The presence of war in Europe and the invasion of Ukraine is a regrettable truth that came to be. The tensions between Greece and Turkey are a real-world issue and any prejudice or opinions expressed during this campaign are fictional. I have the greatest respect for the difficulties faced via both nations.

Situation

The Greek Republic’s recent attempts to make claims to several Turkish islands resulted in several victories but a majority of forced withdrawals. With their island campaign in tatters, Greece must take a moment to assess their position and consider diplomatic resolution before Turkey ops to retaliate.

With many of the Turkish formations energised by their decisive resilience, the world looks on preparing and expecting a swift retaliation. Will Turkey strike back and continue the island disputes or is a much larger threat on the eve of rearing its head.

Spanish forces on the mainland have been ordered to collapse their positions, fall back on garrisons and be ready to stand to. Their current commitment is to maintain peace within the region however, as a neutral faction every decision must be calculated, or they could risk drawing themselves into the conflict.

Area

The Spanish Garrisons based across Evros have been vital in maintaining regional peace and supporting the local populace as the Greek Republic rebuilt itself following the liberation. Since the Greek offensive against Turkish islands tensions have raised throughout the Spanish’s FOBs. The realisation Turkish troops are within a few hundred miles, and they could once more find themselves in an armoured conflict lingers.

Spanish high command has authorised local commanders to priorities their own defensive positions and establish weapon installations to deter any foreign aggression against the Greek soil. In the event of a counter strike it is suspect Turkish forces will manoeuvre around Spanish positions and prevent waking the beast that only a few years prior liberated Greece from its dictatorial government. Commanders are advised to plan their positions carefully and establish themselves in regions which could lead to conflict as Turkey will not risk granting a powerful ally to the enemy.

Mission

As members of a local Spanish garrison your duty is to maintain stability. Establish effective positions in which to engage Turkish forces from and create an active deterrent which cannot be bypassed. In the event either side takes hostile action towards you, defend until you must withdraw. This land does not belong to us and selling our lives for it is not recommended. High command has opted not to withdraw you in an attempt to deter Turkish counter aggression. However, this is not a commitment to open conflict, nor a guaranteed support will arrive. Do what you can and focus on surviving but do not risk total encirclement, if we given the order to leave, we need the flexibility to manoeuvre and either side may not be so willing to provide it.

Equipment

Our vehicles are equipped with a range of anti-personnel, anti-tank and anti-air weaponry. They are easy to conceal but rapid when necessary. Hit and run tactics may be necessary, use each piece of your equipment to its strengths.

In addition to our standard compliment of MRAPs we have been granted authorising to deploy static SAM sites. If positioned effectively they could deter Turkish air units from breaching the border and delaying any preliminary strikes. In the event the air campaign begins these assets will be vital to protecting ourselves and provide a safe airspace for our own aircraft whether they arrive to reinforce us or withdraw us.
