Operation Cold Response

Briefing
Following further aggression from Russia against NATO after its full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 the Arctic has become a crucial front line in NATOs defence of Scandinavia. With a mild winter Russia has moved large portions of its Pacific Fleet to ports in Murmansk, merging it with Northern Fleet. In response NATO moved its now reinforced SNMG1 to the Norwegian coastline as deterrence. In late February the Russian fleet left Murmansk heading south alongside the Norwegian coastline at a distance of 3 NM outside Norway's territorial waters. With the first encounter between the Russian fleet and SNMG1 the two sides entered into long and inconclusive skirmish with both sides withdrawing.
Following the skirmish portions of the Russian fleet separated and conducted landings North of Trondheim. SNMG1 has allocated a Task Unit together with components of the Swedish coastal rangers to first contain the Russian fleet in the fjord followed by entering and engaging the Russian fleet and its amphibious units in the fjord.
