Operation Capstone

Situation

Local development efforts are currently being disrupted by the presence of Taliban cells in the region. Unfortunately, the ANA has struggled to deal with the cell for some time. As such, the 2nd Combined Arms battalion was deployed to eliminate the cell and its numerous encampments.

It is believed that the Taliban in the region is relatively well-equipped. Using heavy equipment, notably having a few IFVs and Soviet Era tanks available to them. As such, a combined arms approach was considered necessary.

It is our mission to ensure that Taliban assets are eliminated so that development efforts can continue.

Mission

Your mission consists of the following objectives.
1. Locate and Destroy key Taliban Assets.
2. Protect the development efforts from Taliban raids.
3. Minimise collateral damage in the region.

Execution

Based on the recent probing attacks in the region, the location of possible sites can be roughly determined. To better locate these sites, US forces will need to draw out Taliban attacks, allowing positions to be located by tracing reinforcements and withdrawals.

A combined arms battalion was selected for this operation to ensure flexibility, as well as to hopefully inspire the Taliban into making a bold attack for propaganda purposes, whilst also providing ample firepower for any possible threats.

Completion of this operation requires the elimination of Taliban forces and the destruction of key assets to ensure that they cannot be used in the future.

Friendly Assets

The 2nd Combined Arms Battalion has been equipped with the following:

• 1× M2A3 Bradley
• 1× M109A6 SPA
• 1× UH-60 Blackhawk
• 1× A-10 Warthog

Enemy Assets

Mostly comprised of Insurgent fighters. Primarily operating either by foot or using technicals and repurposed civilian vehicles. IEDs in both static and mobile forms, as well as Anti-air and anti-armour weaponry.

It was reported by the ANA that the Taliban also has access to a limited number of heavier assets in the region. As such, expect the presence of armoured vehicles in the AO. Expect the presence of older BTRs and Soviet Era tanks.

Admin/Gameplay Notes

This mission is designed to have short bursts of very low-intensity combat, with small elements 'harassing' the players on a semi-frequent basis. Intense combat is to be expected. The players should account for the fact that the enemy will attempt to ambush and cut logistics or destroy vehicular assets in their planning.
